Evil Done in The Name of Religion

Everywhere I turn I see religious extremists performing acts that go against their religion in order to try and coerce people to join their religion or to glorify God. From the abortion clinic bombings here in the United States to the executions performed by Islamist extremists in the Middle East; the present day and much of history has plenty of evil credited to the name of religion.
Does this evil show the true nature of that religion? Certainly not! These acts are carried out by people who have fallen under the sway of a lie perpetrated by the devil himself, saying that this evil will glorify God even more than by carrying out his decrees. A scriptural answer can be found in Romans 3:5-8. “But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” Why not say – as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say – “Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is deserved. So for those religious groups that believe that doing evil will bring glory to God, they are sorely mistaken and are receiving their reward with the media backlash that they are deservedly getting.
